DDD Waiting List Stories Needed

At the November 2006 meeting of the Family Support Coalition, Emmett Dwyer from New Jersey Protection and Advocacy spoke about a lawsuit that the P&A is bringing against DDD regarding the Waiting List for Residential Services.  He asked the Coalition to submit in writing what is called a "declaration" that they could use in the lawsuit.  Basically, that would include a statement about why we think the waiting list harms families.  For the purpose of the declaration, we need to have some specific examples of families who are suffering because of having a family member on the waiting list.

That's where you come in!  Are you a family member, or do you know of a family with such a story?

If the family agrees to let their names be used, that would be ideal; but even if that's not the case, some specific stories without names are more valuable than vague assertions about the waiting list being a problem.

Please jot down the stories you know and email them to:

Family Support Coalition at fscnj@sbatsr.org

Or, if you'd prefer you can contact Emmett Dwyer directly at edwyer@NJPANDA.org (be sure to put "Waiting List" in the subject line).

We all know that the waiting list hurts families, so doing what we can with this is another way

to support families.
