BOBBIE METZ"So what are you going to do about it?" o what are you going to do Bobbie Metz was born in 1934 with spina bifida and other complex medical conditions and should not have survived. However, not only did she survive, but lived for 70 years and was an unstoppable force in promoting disability rights, independence, and understanding of and respect for people with disabilities. She was one of the founding members of the Spina Bifida Association and never missed an opportunity to educate and help others. She never let her disability stop her from attempting to accomplish her goals; nor did she let others let it stop them. She always challenged individuals to take responsibility for themselves and do whatever was necessary to move forward. Bobbie never missed the opportunity to attend a Spina Bifida Conference. She knew the value of learning the most current information available, keeping in touch with old friends and meeting new ones.
Bobbie's life is an example for us all --- even though she is no longer with us, we still are challenged to do our best with our lives.
